Former bantamweight champion, Cody Garbrandt praises Deiveson Figueiredo and challenges the Brazilian

Fueled by two consecutive victories, the American praised the former owner of the flyweight belt and said he wants to face him in his next engagement in the Octagon

Former bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg), cody garbrandt He already has in mind the next rival he would like to share the Octagon with. In an interview with the American ESPN, ‘No Love’ praised the Brazilian Deiveson Figueiredo, identified him as more dangerous than current belt owner Sean O’Malley and emphasized that he would like to face him in his next commitment.

“I think Deiveson (Figueiredo) is much more dangerous than (Sean) O’Malley. I really believe that. O’Malley has good skills, he has good things, but Deiveson is the next fighter I want to face. That’s what I’m focused on and that’s what I want,” Garbrandt said.

Between 2017 and 2021, Garbrandt experienced the worst moment of his career and suffered five defeats in six fights. However, after some time away from the octagon, Cody returned to Ultimate in 2023 and managed two consecutive victories, something that hadn't happened since 2016. The North American has an MMA record of 14 positive results and five negative results.

Former owner of the flyweight belt (up to 56,7kg), Deiveson moved to the bantamweight division last December and debuted with a good points victory over the experienced Rob font. The Brazilian athlete has a record in MMA of 22 victories, three setbacks and one draw.
