Almost three years after the terrible leg injury suffered in the fight against Uriah Hall, in April 2021, Chris Weidman He still has vivid memories of what happened. Recently, the North American 'ESPN' released a small preview of the documentary 'E:60' regarding the serious fracture suffered by the former UFC middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg).

At one point, Weidman, who broke his leg when kicking a man's leg, Uriah Hall 17 seconds into the fight, he states that, at the time of the injury, his greatest fear was the total amputation of the limb.

“I was very scared by the pain, because I was thinking about the worst possible scenario. The worst case scenario was that the blood wouldn't return to my bone, which would mean a possible amputation. I saw my leg split in half. I thought: ‘What the f*** is this? It can’t be my leg’. Then, suddenly, the pain started to set in. I didn't believe it. The doctors came in and tried to move my leg and I could feel the bone and see the bone sticking out of the leg. I just wanted painkillers”, recalled the former champion.

Interestingly, the injury to Chris Weidman was almost identical to that suffered by Anderson Silva in a fight against Weidman himself years before. The North American's fracture, however, required a considerably longer period of time, which involved unsuccessful surgical procedures.

After a lot of effort and two long years of recovery, Weidman returned to the Octagon in August of this year, at UFC 292, with defeat to Brad Tavares. Despite all the drama, the former champion refutes the possibility of hanging up his gloves.

“What about the challenge and the story? It just excites me. I love it when people write me off,” said the American.
