A duel between former champions could be on the way in the UFC. Deiveson Figueiredo, who reigned in the flyweight category (56,7 kg.), accepted the challenge from cody garbrandt, who held the bantamweight title (61,2 kg.) between 2016 and 2017. The two fighters exchanged provocations on social media and expressed their interest in facing each other in the UFC 300, an event that should mark the organization's 30th anniversary, in April 2024.

Garbrandt was the first to launch the challenge, after knocking out brian kelleher in the first round in UFC 296, in Las Vegas (USA). The North American said he spoke to the matchmakers of the UFC, Sean Shelby, and that he approved the idea of ​​a bantamweight fight against Deiveson.

“I would love to fight Deiveson. I think it would be a great fight between two champions. He's at bantamweight. I was withdrawn because of a fight against him due to COVID-19 and flyweight is not my weight. I talked to Sean Shelby about this and he's all for it. O UFC 300 that would be an amazing card to put us on. I hope Deiveson accepts it and prepares to be knocked out”, declared Garbrandt in the post-event press conference.

Deiveson Figueiredo's response

Figueiredo didn't take long to respond and accepted the challenge in a post on Instagram. The Brazilian, who debuted with victory in the bantamweight category by overcoming Rob font No. ufc austin, in early December, said he was ready for a war and asked the organization's president, Dana White, to make the fight happen.

The fight between Figueiredo and Garbrandt has not yet been made official by Ultimate, but it is already arousing the expectations of MMA fans. The two fighters are known for their aggressive and knockout styles, and promise to put on an electrifying fight.
