Involved in recent controversies, Ian Garry reveals concern for his family's safety

The Irish prospect revealed that he has received threats and insults online and said he is worried about taking his family to the United States to join him at UFC 296

“I’m excited for the UFC 296. I think it's a huge card, a card with all the big names, lots of big clashes. I'm a little cautious about going to the United States because of my family's safety, with everything that's been happening on the internet. To protect my wife, to protect my son, to protect myself,” Garry told 'MMA Junkie'.

Despite concerns for his family, Garry said this will not affect his preparation for the UFC 296 and emphasized how much he enjoys the energy of fight week.

“I’m not anxious or worried about the fight. The fight will be fun. The fight will be easy for me. It's always something I like, it's something I love. The press conferences, the weigh-ins, everything. I love. I like that energy”, concluded the Irishman.

In recent weeks, Ian has been involved in controversies with other fighters. In addition to being kicked out of the gym where he trained by the welterweight champion, Leon edwards, Garry exchanged barbs with Sean Strickland, owner of the middleweight belt and saw Dillon Danis, friend of Conor McGregor, revealing messages received by his wife in 2018.

Number 10 in the welterweight rankings, Garry is undefeated in professional MMA with 13 straight victories. On December 16th, at UFC 296, the Irishman will face the Brazilian Vincent Luque on the main card of the show, which will take place in Las Vegas (USA).
