Gustafsson approves of Rashad Evans' challenge: 'I agree to face him'

Swede said that, unlike the fight against Anthony Johnson, he is interested in the duel against the former champion

A big duel between two of the biggest names in the UFC's light heavyweight category is getting closer and closer to happening. Challenged by the former category champion Rashad evans, the Swedish Alexander Gustafson approved the idea and was very interested in facing the winner of TUF 2.

“It’s definitely a fight that interests me. I would like to fight against Rashad evans. It's different from fighting Anthony Johnson, which never interested me. Rashad is a great fighter and I accept to face him if the fight is offered to me”, guaranteed Gustafsson during a question and answer session in his home country before the official weigh-in for UFC Fight Night 53.

After starring in the “2013 Fight of the Year” at UFC 165 against Jon Jones, Alexander Gustafson secured his rematch against the light heavyweight champion this year. However, due to an injury, the Swede was forced to leave the fight and ended up being replaced by Daniel Cormier in combat. Gustafsson was even associated with a fight against Anthony Johnson, but the duel became unfeasible due to Johnson's suspension following a case of domestic violence.
