With Dominick Cruz already confirmed as the next challenger for the bantamweight belt, Raphael Assunção, the Brazilian currently closest to a title fight, must remain active and winning if he wants to remain at the top of the division. This Saturday (04), Raphael faces the tenth place in the division's official ranking Bryan caraway. However, this Friday (03), both Assunção and Caraway faced another common opponent: the scales, at the official weigh-in for UFC Fight Night 54.

Right after Assunção and Caraway, it was the turn of the duo from the main fight of the night to step up to the scales, make weight and confirm the main duel of the night. Fighting at home, Rory McDonald reached the 77,1 kg allowed for the welterweight category, the same weight reached by the Belgian Tarec saffiedine. Most likely, the winner of the fight will be the next challenger for the division belt, currently held by the American John hendricks.

Without a doubt, one of the most unusual moments at the UFC Fight Night 54 weigh-in certainly involved Yosdenis Cedeños. The Cuban has already attracted attention for his irreverent style, when he took to the stage wearing smart sportswear complete with sunglasses and a scarf. But the highlight was the step on the scale, when Cedeños proudly displayed a photo of his son's ultrasound.

The entire show was not in vain, as Yosdenis made weight without any problems, performing at 70,3 kg, and confirmed his presence at this Saturday's event (03). In the third-to-last fight of the night, the Cuban will face Canadian Chad Laprise, TUF Nations champion in the lightweight category, who also weighed 70,3 kg.

Peter Munhoz and Bruno Carioca make weight with ease

Besides Raphael Assunção, the other two Brazilians present on the card in Halifax also passed the scale without any problems. Peter Munhoz, on the preliminary card, and Bruno Carioca, on the main program, made weight and confirmed their presence at this Saturday's event (4).

Member of the first fight of the night, the São Paulo native Peter Munhoz he weighed 61,2 kg and confirmed the duel against Jerrod Sanders, who weighed the same weight. Bruno Carioca weighed 84 kg and secured his place in the fight against Elias Theodorou, in which he is looking for his second consecutive victory in Ultimate.
