Coming from four undisputed victories within the UFC, Conor McGregor could be the next challenger for the featherweight belt. This was assured by UFC president, Dana White, who stated that the Irishman should be next in line if the current champion, José Aldo, win your fight against Chad Mendes, At the end of the month.
According to White, the fight between McGregor and Aldo would make sense, as the Brazilian defeated all the fighters who would theoretically be next in line, such as Frankie Edgar e Cub swanson.
“Here’s what I think: If you look at the list, every one of these guys has fought José Aldo. Not Conor. So who would you put as the champion's next opponent other than Conor? Everyone has fought with him”, explained White, in an interview with the UFC website. However, the Ultimate boss did not comment on what would happen if Mendes defeated the Brazilian.
The fight between José Aldo e Chad Mendes will headline UFC 179, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro on October 25th.
