Romero controversially defeated Kennedy in the fight, which was part of the main card of UFC 178. Kennedy was close to knocking out Romero in the final moments of the second round, but the Cuban was saved by the bell. At halftime, Romero spent 28 seconds beyond the allowed minute sitting on the stool in his corner, as the cutman of the UFC had applied too much Vaseline to the fighter and he was waiting for the excess to be removed. As soon as the fight resumed, Romero landed powerful blows on Kennedy, winning by technical knockout.

The video shows Romero's arrival at the locker room. He sees Kennedy and says he wants to talk to his rival, but he is not well received. “What the f*ck. If you can't get up from the stool, it's over,” says Kennedy, irritated, while Romero doesn't seem to understand the complaint. Shortly afterwards, security guards separate the fighters, who follow opposite paths.
