Dana White praises Deiveson Figueiredo after successful bantamweight debut

The UFC president praised the former flyweight champion's performance against the experienced Rob Font and admitted that he was surprised by his quick adaptation to the new category

The premiere of Deiveson Figueiredo in bantamweight (up to 61,2kg) left Ultimate president Dana White very excited. In an interview after the ufc austin, held last Saturday (02), the president praised the performance of the former flyweight champion (up to 56,7kg) against Rob font and reveals that he was surprised by his good performance.

“Tonight was a big night for him. I know a lot of people thought Font was too big for him, that he had too much power for him, but he fought and was great,” said Dana.

Former flyweight champion and coming off four consecutive duels with the Mexican Brandon Moreno, the 'God of War' decided to abandon the severe weight cut and move up to the bantamweight division. In the old category, the Brazilian managed to amend two reigns and beat names like Joseph Benavidez, Tim Elliott and the current owner of the belt Alexandre pantoja.

No ufc austin, which took place last Saturday (02), the Brazilian delivered a good performance against the experienced Rob font, number eight in the ranking, and emerged victorious in the unanimous decision of the judges. At 35 years of age, the Brazilian athlete has a record of 22 triumphs, three setbacks and one draw as a sports professional.
