After a failed test at flyweight (up to 56,7kg), Miesha Tate shone in his reunion in the bantamweight division (up to 61,2kg.). Featured on the preliminary card of ufc austin, held this Saturday (2), in the United States, the former champion put on a real show and gave no chance to Julia Avila. With a perfect strategy, the veteran overcame her opponent with a submission in the third round.
With the victory, Tate moves away from the unstable moment he has experienced since coming out of retirement. Before the triumph, the 37-year-old veteran had accumulated two stumbles in three appearances.
As a victim of Miesha, Avila was momentarily removed from the chance to occupy a prominent place in the top 15. A promise in the category, the athlete suffered her second setback in five challenges in the UFC.
Domain of legend
The fight started with Tate looking for the takedown in the opening seconds. The former champion pressed her rival against the bars. After insistence, Miesha managed to take down her opponent and put pressure on top. Even without being forceful, the veteran managed the advantage position. Halfway through the stage, Tate managed to get to his opponent's back and attempted a choke. Miesha insisted on submission attempts, while Avila defended himself. In the final seconds, Tate's pressure was total, but the timer ran to zero.
In the second round, Tate returned to the confrontation following the same strategy as in the previous round. In the opening seconds, the former champion closed the distance and managed to land a beautiful takedown on her opponent. On top, Miesha was active and never stopped putting pressure on her opponent. As time passed, Tate slowed down, but continued to leave no room for his opponent's reaction. The round ended with Miesha on her opponent's back, managing the result.
The last round proved the effectiveness of Miesha's training. The former champion once again took down her opponent at the beginning of the stage. Immediately, the fighter managed to get to the back and secured the rear naked choke. Unable to defend himself, Avila gave up.
