Covington reveals troubled episode with Poirier at the gym and plans to face former training partner

Welterweight title challenger declares that compatriot asked for his expulsion from American Top Team

Frequently involved in controversies, Colby covington he didn't mind revealing yet another troubled episode in his professional life. Former training partner Dustin poirier at American Top Team, the future challenger for the welterweight belt (up to 77,1 kg.) claims to have been expelled from the gym due to complaints made by his compatriot about him.

“A guy named Dustin 'Soreier'. He's the one who kicked me out of my old gym crying and having feelings, saying, 'Oh, Colby is a mean person. We're going to kick him out of our gym,' while we're locked in an octagon and hurting each other in our underwear on Saturday nights,” Colby said during an interview with UFC.

As he continued speaking, Covington expressed his desire to take revenge on his rival and regretted that Poirier was afraid of the challenge.

“I would love to have a fight with Dustin 'Soreier', but he's afraid of me and he's afraid of my shadow. I’ll never be able to fight him because he’s just scared,” he concluded.

Despite the intention, Colby needs to count on Poirier's willingness to move up to the welterweight category. Scheduled to fight for the belt, Covington presents himself on December 16 and faces Leon edwards No. UFC 296. On the other hand, Dustin has no fight scheduled at the moment.
