With a beautiful knockout, Mark Hunt wins 'Gordinhos' duel' at UFC Japan

New Zealand fighter used the power of his fists to impetuously knock out Mark Hunt in the second round

In a busy weekend for the UFC, with the outburst in Wanderlei Silva's retirement it's new Thiago Silva's resignation, the biggest MMA organization in the world returned to Japan for a big duel – literally. Weighing 238 kilos in the octagon, the New Zealander Mark Hunt, weighing 120 kg, managed to show the strength of his fists and knock out the North American Roy Nelson, weighing 118 kg with a beautiful right hook. The fight was the main attraction of UFC Fight NIght 52, an event held in the early hours of this Saturday (20), in Saitama.

In its only appearance in Japan in 2014, the UFC recalled the times of the extinct Pride, a traditional Japanese MMA event, which was famous for some 'freak fights`. With 240 kg. on top of the octagon, a tepid duel was to be expected. But that's not what happened. Mark Hunt e Roy Nelson put on a good show for the public at the Saitama Super Arena.

Nelson started the fight better. The North American worked faster with boxing attacks. Hunt trusted his chin and tried to respond on the counterattack. Not wanting to take any chances with the New Zealander's striking, Roy tried to take the fight to the ground, but was always well blocked.

In the second round, Roy Nelson came close to ending the dispute. After connecting with a cross, he managed to take the fight to the ground, reached his back, but was unable to secure the choke and Hunt got up.

Willing to take the loss at the beginning of the partial, when the fight resumes on the feet, Mark Hunt ended the dispute. The New Zealander landed a jab and hook combination, which shook Roy Nelson. The attack of punches continued and the North American was brutally knocked out three minutes into the second round.

The result marked the 10th victory of Mark Hunt in MMA. The New Zealander also has eight defeats and one draw. In turn, Roy Nelson, known worldwide for his resistance, was knocked out for the second time in his career, the first time in the UFC. He now has 10 defeats and 20 wins in MMA.

 Japanese idol falls by knockout

In the second most important fight of the night, the biggest name in the history of Japanese MMA was knocked out at home. The weight bears Takanori Gomi, former dominant champion of the extinct Pride, could not resist the youth of Myles Jury.

In just 1m32s of the fight, Jury knocked Gomi down with a straight right. With a series of blows from above, the North American ended the duel, with the Japanese barely defending himself and with only his hands on his head.

The fight between the North American Miesha Tate and the Japanese Rin Nakai gained notoriety when the news that the Japanese athlete had appearances in sensual films. But inside the octagon, Nakai was unable to perform well and was beaten by her experienced rival.

Failing to win, Miesha, considered by many to be the most beautiful fighter in the UFC, avoided takedown attempts and used the fence to beat the Japanese woman with a unanimous decision from the judges.
