Confidence is essential for a professional MMA athlete, but the Belarusian Andrei Arlovski seems to have gotten carried away. During the open training sessions at UFC Fight Night 51, this Thursday (11) in Brasília (DF), the heavyweight made a point of showing off by calling one of his teammates to give him blows while making faces and mouths.
The former UFC champion didn't even remove his shirt during training and completely deviated from the script generally adopted by most athletes. Arlovski spent just over a minute on the stage set up in a shopping center in the federal capital and even asked the organization if he could leave. Faced with the refusal followed by a request for the athlete to remain in his presentation, he just acted out some movements. Furthermore, the protagonist of the main fight in Brasília insisted that the journalists present applaud him.
After training, Arlovski explained his intention with the attitude. “I wanted to put a smile on your faces and that’s what I ended up doing, right?” This Saturday (13), Arlovski will take part in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 51 against the Brazilian Antonio Pezão. The event takes place at the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium, in Brasília (DF). In the co-main fight of the night, Gleison Tibau faces the Polish Piotr Hallmann.
