The organization of Bitetti Combat, an event that promises to bring great international MMA stars to Maracanazinho, on September 12th, officially confirms three more fights. Affliction athlete, who has shone in organizations such as Pride, Rogério Minotouro will face Alex Stiebling, known as “The Brazilian Killa” (Brazilian Killer). Other confirmed clashes include former Cage Rage fighter Henrique Nogueira “Chocolate”, who faces M-1 beast Eduardo Pamplona, and the undefeated Alexandre Pimentel “Pulga” against Argentine Luciano Izzi, who has 12 victories and only one defeat in the sport.
Minotouro and Alex Stiebling already faced each other in 2004, with the Brazilian winning by decision. Rogério expects an even tougher opponent for the rematch at Maracanazinho.
“He's a guy who I know has already been training a lot on the ground, he's doing work in the United States with (Helio) Sonequinha. He has a good number of falls. I've been watching some of his recent fights and he has some takedowns, so he's a dangerous guy, who also hits hard. But I'm confident. Since we last fought I've improved a lot in boxing and my physical side is much better. Today I am a tougher and more experienced fighter. I expect a quarry, but I’m confident,” he commented.
The opponent's nickname, “The Brazilian Killa”, came after six consecutive victories against Tupiniquins, over beasts like Allan Goes and Wallid Ismail, a streak broken by Anderson Silva and by Minotouro himself. Now the Bahian promises a new triumph to end the American's fame against the Brazilians once and for all.
“The desire is to go there and shut him up. I'll try to knock him out. You'll see how it goes. Anyone who goes to Maracanazinho will see it. The responsibility of fighting here is greater, but I call everyone to attend the event because I'm sure all Brazilians will perform well. Everyone is very motivated and the presence of the fans will be essential for our performance. I speak on behalf of everyone and the important thing is that the fans are giving energy, behaving well and showing respect, because we are going to put on a show”, commented Minoto, who sees the chance to fight for the second time on national soil as a great moment for MMA in the country.
“It's very good for the sport and it's good for us, because it's an opportunity for athletes to show their work in Brazil, close to the fans. The fighter performs better at home, so it's like a dream for us to fight in front of the fans. Five years ago, if I said I was going to fight in Brazil, people would have laughed, and nowadays, it's already possible. I thank the organization of Bitetti Combat”, concluded Rogério, who is in a great article in “Jornal do Brasil” this Saturday.
One of the event organizers, Ferando Miranda commented on the other fights announced. “Henrique Chocolate is a fighter with international experience who has already trained with the Quinton jackson and Pamplona has been doing well all over the world. Pulga is the new sensation of national MMA, with a very technical game. And anyone who thinks that the Argentine we found for him is a piece of cake is wrong. We have information that he is a very tough guy, graduated to black belt here in Brazil and has fought a lot in Mexico,” he said.
