Undefeated since September 2011 and with victories in his last six fights, three of them as a UFC athlete, the middleweight Ronaldo Jacare believes that his resume already qualifies him for a title fight in the biggest MMA organization on the planet. During an interview, the former Strikeforce champion said that if the official ranking of the 84 kg division is taken into account, he would possibly have even fought for the title previously.

“Based on the division rankings, I believe I should have already fought for the title. I believe I'm close to my goal, which is to fight for the belt, but I don't think about it much. I have to beat Mousasi first”, said the Espírito Santo native based in Amazonas, who faces the Armenian-Dutch Gegard Mousasi in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 50, on September 5th.

Regarding the duel against Mousasi, by whom he was already defeated in a fight held in 2008, Jacaré raised expectations for the fight and said he expected one of the best fights of the year for the rematch against his old rival. “I expect a tough fight. I'm prepared for this, to fight five rounds, although my goal is to end the fight sooner. I think I'll have a great show, perhaps the Fight of the Night and one of the best of the year. He's a tough opponent, he has a solid game on the ground and on the feet, but I'm ready for the challenge. I don't count our first fight because it was many years ago, it was just another fight in my career. This will be difficult and will lead me to compete for the title”, he analyzed.

On September 5, Ronaldo Jacare faces Gegard Mousasi in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 50. The event takes place at the Foxwoods Resort Casino, in Ledyard, in the US state of Connecticut. In the co-main fight of the night, former DREAM and Strikeforce champion Allistair Overeem faces American Ben Rothwell. In addition to Jacaré, three other Brazilians make up the night's card: Rafael Sapo, who faces Chris Camozzi; Rodrigo Damm, which faces To the fifth; is Charles of the Bronx, that has Nik lentz ahead.
