Conor McGregor surprises with his opinion on Khamzat Chimaev's arrival in the middleweight category

Contrary to expectations, Conor McGregor left aside the provocation and adopted a respectful stance towards Khamzat Shimaev. Aware that the athlete is about to make his debut in the middleweight category (up to 83,9kg), in a fight at UFC 294, the Irishman expressed eagerness to watch the organization promise. The 'Lobo' performs this Saturday (21) against Kamaru Usman.

“A much better fighter at 83kg. But he must face bigger opponents now, although not in this fight, as he faces a welterweight on a steep skid. But he himself bears the brunt of the burden. A perfect fight for the Chechens. I’m excited to see this story unfold,” McGregor said in a comment on Instagram.

After difficulties in making the welterweight division, Khamzat Shimaev chose to move up a category. Promised by Dana White that the winner of the confrontation will face Sean Strickland for the middleweight belt, the athlete expresses anxiety about achieving, for the first time, the chance to become Ultimate champion.

Undefeated in his career, Chimaev is seen as a big favorite for the clash against Kamaru Usman. The Nigerian accepted a duel 10 days in advance to replace Paulo borrachinha. Scheduled to face each other this Saturday (21), the fighters will hold the penultimate fight of the UFC 294, in Abu Dhabi.
