Days after surprising MMA fans by revealing the condition of his elbow after contracting staph bacteria, Paulo borrachinha gave good news to his followers. On social media, the Brazilian admitted to having surprised the medical team with the progress of his recovery. The drama experienced in recent weeks determined the absence of the miner in the UFC 294.
“I've been to the hospital and the doctors are wondering what kind of human I am. The wound (recovery) is faster than normal. One more week, and it will close completely”, wrote the middleweight (up to 83,9kg.), in his profile on Instagram.

No UFC 294, Borrachinha would face one of the biggest commitments of his career as a professional in MMA. The athlete, who would be featured in this Saturday's event (21), would share the octagon with the undefeated Khamzat Shimaev.
Faced with the organization's pupil, Paulo would try to get closer to a new title fight in the category, today, led by Sean Strickland. The episode, however, delayed the miner's plans.
With Borrachinha leaving the event, the UFC acted quickly and found a strong replacement. Kamaru Usman, former welterweight 'king' (up to 77,1kg) took the fight and measures forces with the representative of the United Arab Emirates.
