Amid rumors that Paulo Borrachinha was prevented by doctors from performing No. UFC 294, the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg.), Chris Weidman, offered to replace the Brazilian. Willing to face Khamzat Shimaev 10 days in advance, the North American volunteered on his social networks to be present in Abu Dhabi.
“I would be willing to fight Chimaev,” Weidman posted on his official Twitter account. X (old Twitter).

On the other hand, Chimaev expects to receive an official announcement from the Brazilian or the UFC that he will need another opponent for the UFC 294. The confrontation marks the athlete's debut in the middleweight category, where he seeks to achieve a chance to fight for the belt soon.
