Watching a UFC event in Brazil can be considered a new experience, as in total only 15 UFC cards were held in the country. But the amounts invested by fans who want to watch a night of fights already exceed those related to another major event whose realization is even rarer: the World Cup, whose interval between editions on Brazilian soil was 64 years. In any of the available sectors, the Brasília edition of Ultimate, which takes place on September 13th, has more expensive tickets than the World Cup games in the federal capital.
Using as a comparison the category 4 tickets for the quarter-final game or the third place match held at the Mané Garrincha Stadium, the most expensive matches in Brasília, and the grandstand tickets for the UFC Brasilia, the difference is almost 60% – R$270 reais for Ultimate and R$170 for tickets reserved for Brazilians at the World Cup. In the other sectors, the average is also maintained: R$330 in Sector 2 and R$500 in Chairs (51%); R$440 in Sector 3 and R$690 in the Octagon (57%); and R$660 in Sector 4 and R$990 in the Premium Octagon or R$1000 in the UFC Special Chair (51%).
The disparity becomes even more striking if we compare the values with tickets for the first phase games, when Mané Garrincha hosted the Brazilian team's game against Cameroon. In this case, the cheapest tickets for both events have a difference of 450%, with Sector 4 of the World Cup being sold at R$60 and the stands at Ginásio Nilson Nelson at R$270. In the other sectors, the difference varies between 255 and 285%, always with the highest price in favor of Ultimate.
In comparison with UFC Goiânia, inflation just doesn't reach more expensive tickets
Bringing the comparison to the UFC itself and taking into account the last, and only, edition of Ultimate held in the center-west region, in Goiânia (GO), the values practiced in Brasília also suffered a significant increase in all sectors, except for the more expensive places.
For example, the entrance to the fight night stand headed by Vitor belfort x Dan Henderson in November last year it cost R$200, R$70 less than the minimum price for the Brasília card. This 35% increase is almost six times greater than the inflation recorded in the last 12 months.
As for the more expensive sectors, Octógono Premium in Goiânia and Special Chairs UFC or Octógono Premium in Brasília, the difference was minimal. If for the card in Goiás, the fan would have to pay R$950 to occupy one of the best seats for the public, in the case of the Federal District this investment will be R$990 or R$1000 (depending on the option for the space with services included or not). In this case, the increase was only 4,5%, on average.
