Last Friday night (01), Indiana Pacers (NBA) and North American national team forward Paul George experienced a drama already known to the Brazilian Anderson Silva. During an exhibition training game between the starters and reserves of the United States national team in Las Vegas, George fell badly after sharing a ball with teammate James Harden and ended up fracturing his leg in an image that was very reminiscent of the most striking scene of that rematch between Anderson and Chris Weidman, at UFC 168. Through his social media profiles, Spider showed solidarity with the basketball player and released a message of support.

“I had the same injury, champion. I know exactly what you are going through right now. But stay calm and strong, you will be back soon. #PrayForGeorge,” wrote Anderson, along with an image of the power forward, on his Instagram. Still in the hospital, and with an estimated recovery time of between 12 and 18 months, George himself released a message thanking him for the expressions of affection he has received in recent days. “Thank you everyone for your love and support. I'll be fine and come back better than ever! I love you”, published the player.

In addition to support through public demonstrations, the example of Anderson Silva it could also inspire Paul George and help him on his return to the court. This is because Spider, who fractured his leg in December 2013, already has his return to the Octagon scheduled for January 31st, when he faces Nick Diaz in the main fight of UFC 183, exactly 13 months after the injury.
