Fight between Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz could be worth a title fight

According to president Dana White, if the Brazilian wins, Diaz could get a shot at the title

When he was defeated for the second time by Chris Weidman, in December 2013, Anderson Silva he hinted that he would not like to compete for the UFC title again in the future. However, in his first fight after the broken leg suffered in that rematch, Spider could find himself facing a fight that is worth a shot at the belt, at least for his opponent. According to UFC president Dana White, if Anderson beats on January 31st, Nick Diaz could position itself as a challenger for the title.

“I can say that Anderson is very excited for this fight. On the other hand, if Nick Diaz manage to win Anderson Silva, he will automatically be a candidate for the title fight. Therefore, this will also be a huge fight for Diaz”, revealed the director, in an interview with the North American channel “ESPN”, shortly after making the fight between the Brazilian and the North American official.

On January 31, 2015, in a fight valid for the middleweight category, Anderson Silva e Nick Diaz are the main fight of UFC 183, which takes place in Las Vegas (USA). At 39 years old, Anderson has a professional record of 33 wins and six losses – two of which suffered in his most recent appearances in the octagon, against Chris Weidman. Diaz, on the other hand, has 26 wins, nine losses and one fight without result. The former Strikeforce champion hasn't fought since March last year, when he was defeated by Georges St Pierre.
