Willing to face a new career challenge, Junior Gypsy made his MMA debut without gloves this Friday (8) and defeated Fabricio Werdum in the judges' split decision. In a safe performance, the athlete greatly celebrated his second victory over his compatriot and surprised when he responded about the feeling of testing himself in a new sport.

“This was my first time in MMA without gloves and I loved it. It was wonderful. I feel good, I'm a little sore, but I feel ok. I'm fighting someone very well prepared. Everyone knows what a legend he (Werdum) is”, said Cigano in an interview after the fight.

In a duel valid for three rounds, Junior Gypsy was dominant most of the time. With dominance in the stand-up fight, the former UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg) showed respect for his opponent's jiu-jitsu skills and prevented the fight from going to the ground. After injuring Werdum's eye, the fighter had an easier time controlling the pace of the fight and secured victory via split decision from the judges.
