Nigerian seeks to remain at the absolute top of the middleweight division in a confrontation against the organization's 'bad boy'

It's time for UFC 293. This Saturday (9), Ultimate arrives in Sydney (AUS) and promotes a confrontation between its main representative. Middleweight leader (up to 83,9kg.), Israel adesanya will measure forces with Sean Strickland, in a challenge that promises to lift the spirits of sports fans. In total, the event has 12 fights scheduled.

In his second middleweight reign, Adesanya wants to expand his legacy in the company. Initially, the Nigerian would be an opponent of Dricus Du Plessis, but, with the South African injured, he ended up accepting the compromise against the 'bad boy' of the group.

In his second middleweight reign, Israel adesanya wants to prove that it remains the most relevant name in the group. After losing the title in 2022 in the challenge against Alex Poatán, the Nigerian regained the throne in the immediate rematch that took place in the current season.

As champion, the athlete seeks to expand his legacy in the group. Compared by many with Anderson Silva, the fighter will have the duty to assert favoritism against his weekend rival.

Big underdog in the betting houses, Sean Strickland will have the tough commitment to silence the critics. Chosen to take on the challenge against one of the biggest names in the recent history of Ultimate, the North American has the chance to become the new 'king' of the group.

Famous for his frequency in Ultimate, Israel adesanya will have his second fight in the 2023 season. Always willing to put his belt on the line, the Nigerian will make his first title defense since regaining the throne in the rematch against Alex Poatán, in April.

Considered by many as the 'New Anderson Silva', the athlete had the plan to get closer to the significant mark of 10 'Spider' title defenses by being surpassed by Poatan. By overcoming the Brazilian star in the reunion, 'Izzy', however, resumes his commitment to trying to equate his reign with that of the Tupiniquim legend.

The co-main fight will have a special flavor for Australian fans. Before the title fight that will define the middleweight champion, Tai tuivasa, the 'home athlete', will bring his charisma and aggression to the Octagon.
