On the eve of yet another UFC belt defense, Ronda Rousey not just aim for victory against the next challenger, Alexis Davis. The American also wants to show superiority against her opponent, using boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr as inspiration.

Currently 37 years old, Mayweather has already established himself as one of the greats in boxing history, being undefeated in the sport after 46 fights. Rousey, who has won all nine of her MMA fights, is aiming for something similar. “Floyd Mayweather went through another 40 fights without even getting a cut. That's real dominance in a fighter. That’s what I want to be”, commented the fighter, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Junkie”.

Rousey's statement came precisely because of Davis' characteristics. “She is not someone I can take unnecessary risks with. I don't just want to win, I want to win and get out of there unscathed. There were fights where Alexis hurt her opponent. Even if I win and come out of there with a big cut on my face, it will be terrible for me. I don't just need to win. I need to win without being stopped. That’s the expectation I place on myself, especially with a fighter like Alexis who has a chin made of cement,” she praised.

The fight between Ronda Rousey e Alexis Davis will be the co-main event of UFC 175, which takes place next Saturday (5). The main fight of the night will feature a fight for the UFC middleweight belt between Chris Weidman e Lyoto Machida.
