MMA fighter Aleksander Emelianenko, brother of the legendary heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko, could receive a sentence of up to six years in prison if convicted of rape by his housekeeper.

At the beginning of the year, the Russian was accused of sexually abusing 27-year-old Polina Stepanova, who worked sporadically at the fighter's residence. In testimony, Emelianenko even confessed to the crime, adding that he acted under the strong influence of alcohol. He received a provisional prison sentence that runs until June 30.

Stepanova's lawyer assured that he will go all the way to ensure that the fighter receives the full sentence at the trial, which will take place in the coming months. “Initially, the court should extend Emelianenko’s arrest, which will end on June 30th. We will defend our position that he is really dangerous for society,” he said, in an interview with the Russian website “MMA Boxing”. “The most likely thing is that he will be imprisoned for a period of 4 to 6 years. Either way, we will insist on it,” he added.

Emelianenko, 32 years old, has a record of 23 wins and seven losses in professional MMA. The Russian is best known for his long stint at PRIDE, where he beat the likes of Assuério Silva and Sergei Kharitonov. He has also faced and lost to the likes of Mirko Cro Cop, Fabricio Werdum and Josh Barnett.
