Former bantamweight promise (up to 61,2kg.), in Ultimate, Raoni barcelos added another defeat to the organization. Featured on the preliminary card of UFC Nashville, held this Saturday (5), in the United States, the Brazilian had a discreet performance against Kyler Phillips and did not convince the side judges. After three rounds, the American was declared the winner with a unanimous decision.

With the defeat, Raoni reaches a dramatic situation in the company. The stumble against the North American represents the fourth setback for the Rio native in the last five matches.

It turned into a nightmare

The fight began with Phillips taking the initiative with a low kick. Afterwards, the Brazilian launched a clean direct shot at his opponent's face, who did not attack. Phillips went up and tried to finish, but the Brazilian managed to recover and stayed on his feet. In the final minute, the fighters started striking and were looking for a knockout. Almost in the final minute, the challenge was intense, but there was no more time.

In the second round, the first attack came from Phillips, who knocked the Brazilian off balance with a jab. Raoni fell and Kyler advanced in transitions. With almost two minutes remaining, Barcelos grabbed his opponent's leg again after the American's attack and took the fight to the ground. Again, Kyler had no trouble standing. In the final minute, Raoni led the actions and tried to corner his opponent. Phillips circulated around the octagon and avoided direct contact. Close to the end of the confrontation, Barcelos attempted a takedown again, but there was no more time.

In the second fight of the event, valid for the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg), Sean Woodson confirmed favoritism and defeated the debutant Dennis Buzukja. Mixing the traditional boxing game with efficient takedowns and dominance on the ground, the 'Sniper' controlled the actions and took victory in the judges' unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

As a result, Sean Woodson he had his fourth unbeaten fight, with three wins and a draw. The 'Sniper' hasn't lost since June 2020.

Asu Almabaev debuted on the right foot in the UFC. In the first fight of UFC Nashville, valid in the flyweight division (up to 56,7kg), the Kazakh took no notice of Ode'Osbourne and defeated the Jamaican by submission, with a rear naked choke in the second round of the fight.

With the victory in his debut in the octagon, Asu Almabaev He now has 13 consecutive victories and has not lost since April 2017.
