On April 26th, the Brazilian Glover Teixeira went through a rare situation in his career. On that date, the light heavyweight, who had been undefeated since March 2005, was defeated in an unappealable manner by the champion Jon Jones in the main fight of UFC 172. After the setback, the Brazilian is already recovering and planning his return to the Octagon. According to Glover himself, the months of October and November are the most likely for his return.
“My recovery is progressing very well. My improvement is visible and I intend to return to my training routine next month, I am already doing a good job of physiotherapy and strengthening my shoulder. I hope my return to the UFC happens between October and November. I don’t care much about the choice of opponent, as long as they are in the Top 5 of the category”, said Teixeira.
Furthermore, Glover assessed his situation in the division and said he sees himself two wins away from competing for the title again. “I intend to have two more fights and prove that I am good. These are my first plans to fight for the division belt again. This break is coming at a great time, I was able to spend more time close to my family and help some friends during their training”, he commented.
At 34, Glover Teixeira has a record of 22 wins and three losses. The Brazilian arrived at the UFC in May 2012 and after five victories in the biggest MMA organization on the planet, he competed for the category belt against the champion Jon Jones in April. In the fight, held at UFC 172, Glover was dominated in the five rounds and lost by the judges' decision, with a triple 50-45.
