Used to attracting attention for his knockouts inside the Octagon and his open-mouthed interviews, Derrick Lewis decided to innovate in UFC 291. After a gala performance in front of the Brazilian Marcos Foot, the North American surprised MMA fans by celebrating his triumph in an unusual way in the center of the Octagon. Without hesitation, the fighter removed his shorts, leaving him only in his underwear, twirled the item of clothing around and danced to celebrate his victory, sending the audience into a frenzy. During a press conference after the clash, the athlete stated that he had not planned the unusual action and that he was inspired by the moment of joy.

Recovering from a delicate phase in the organization, Lewis returned to winning after suffering three consecutive defeats in Ultimate. Considered an underdog in the bookmakers, the fighter needed just 30 seconds to violently knock out Pezão and successfully defend his position as tenth in the heavyweight rankings (up to 120,2kg).

The new record holder for the most wins by knockout, Derrick broke a tie with Matt Brown and reached the mark of 14 wins on the fast track. Considered a 'free agent' for having the last fight of his contract this Saturday (29), Lewis highlighted his intention to renew with Ultimate if an agreement is reached with the company and expressed his desire to fight for the belt again.
