Former 'BMF' belt holder and victim of historic knockout in 2019 revive disagreements on social media

Former belt holderBMF' and victim of a historic knockout in 2019, Jorge masvidal and Ben Askren decided to revive the rivalry from their MMA days. Retired from combat sports, the former fighters returned to exchange barbs on social media and a new fight was even considered. Moments before, 'Jesus das Ruas' had suggested a clash over boxing rules.

“I’m not going to box with you, Jorge. If Jorge, in fact, was 'a BMF' (Most tough in MMA), I would accept the rematch in MMA, and I wouldn't be a coward”, wrote Askren, on his Twitter profile.

The new attack from the former Bellator and ONE Championship champion did not go unanswered. Immediately, Jorge decided to remember Askren's most dramatic moment in MMA: his defeat against Masvidal himself in 2019, which resulted in the fastest knockout in UFC history.

“Is this guy still alive?” published 'Jesus nas Ruas' on Instagram, captioning the image of Ben unconscious in the Octagon.

At 38 years old, Masvidal announced his retirement from professional MMA in April 2023. At the time, the North American had just been surpassed by Gilbert Durinho and would extend the bad moment in his career, reaching four consecutive defeats.

At 39, Askren has not competed in professional MMA since 2019. The fighter, however, had a failed test in boxing, when he ended up brutalized by Jake PaulIn 2021.
