Miocic avoids euphoria after running over Maldonado in São Paulo: “It was a good night for me”

North American fighter celebrated the quick victory over the Brazilian and highlights positive experience in Brazil

Even though he won the main fight of TUF Brasil 3 in a devastating way, Stipe Miocic He contained his excitement. The Croatian-born American knocked out Fabio Maldonado in just 35 seconds and silenced the fans who were present at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium, in São Paulo (SP).

In a press conference after the fight, Miocic avoided making predictions and took the opportunity to praise Maldonado. When asked if he thought the size difference between the fighters made a difference, he replied: “Maybe, I don't know. He's tough, he's a great boxer. I connected with a good punch and it was a good night for me”, he stated, in a restrained way.

Originally cast to face Junior Gypsy in São Paulo, Miocic avoided saying whether he wants to face the Brazilian next. “I'm happy with the victory and I was only worried about today's fight. I’m going to go home, rest and think about what the UFC will offer me next,” he commented.

Miocic also highlighted the good experience he had in São Paulo, even though he faced hostile fans. “The people are amazing and everyone was nice to me. Getting the win is excellent. I’m still going for a walk in São Paulo before leaving [on Sunday night],” he said.
