Amidst the great debate about who is the greatest fighter of all time in MMA, Georges St-Pierre, who is chosen by many, decided to open up and express his opinion. Outside of the traditional, the Canadian returned to the beginnings of the sport and recalled his career Royce gracie in the UFC. According to the former double champion, the Brazilian deserves the desired position.

“For me, I think it’s Royce gracie. Because he did things that I don't think I'll ever see again. Like he was fighting back when he didn't have weight classes, and the rules were very different. It was very different. And back then, it was a totally different thing. Like if you were going to the cage, you thought maybe someone could die, you know?”, declared GSP in an interview with Michael Bisping.

Despite the opinion, St-Pierre highlighted that nowadays the scenario is different and claimed that only in the future will someone be able to be the biggest reference in the sport.

“Of course, if you put Royce gracie in the modern day against a champion, I don't think he would maybe do as well. I think the real GOAT, the real GOAT hasn't even been born yet. Because we can talk all we want, but I really believe that performances tend to improve over time. And it has nothing to do with the person, because I don't think athletes are better now than they were before. I don’t think it has to do with the person, I think it has to do with knowledge and technology”, he concluded.
