MMA icon shocks with statement about Amanda Nunes' retirement

Former bantamweight champion celebrates 'farewell' to the Brazilian legend, who left the sport at his peak after defending his belt

One of those responsible for spreading women's MMA around the world, Miesha Tate activated 'sincere mode' when dealing with the retirement of Amanda nunes. Former bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg.), who was dethroned precisely by the Bahian in 2016, admitted excitement about the new phase of the category, as the group will not have the imposing presence of the Brazilian legend. In conversation with the press, the North American analyzed the scenario.

“There was no chance any of us could beat her. So, thank you, because now the division will be open and I am one fight away from a title shot,” said Tate.

Bantamweight champion in 2016, Tate retired from MMA in the same season, after losing the title to the 'Lioness'. Five years later, the athlete reversed her decision and returned to the UFC.

Since her return, the 36-year-old American has accumulated three challenges. In her commitments, Miesha has two stumbles and one triumph.
