The defeat for Alexandre pantoja No. UFC 290 marked the end of the second reign of Brandon Moreno in flyweight (up to 56,7kg) with a sad record weighing against the former champion. Both times he won the Ultimate belt, the 'Baby Assassin' was defeated in his first title defense on both occasions, the first of which for the fellow Brazilian Deiveson Figueiredo. Moreno's first title win came at UFC 263, in June 2021. On that occasion, the Mexican delivered a great performance and submitted the then champion Deiveson Figueiredo in the second round of the confrontation. The first defense took place in January of the following year, in UFC 270 and 'Killer Baby' was beaten by the judges' unanimous decision.

After winning the quadrilogy against Deiveson in UFC 283, in January 2023, Moreno ended the rivalry with 'Daico' and had another Tupiniquim ahead of him: Alexandre pantoja No. UFC 290. Even with a good performance and showing top-level boxing, the Mexican was outclassed by his rival in a tight split decision and failed in yet another attempt to defend his flyweight belt.
