Before fights, it is common to hear fighters stating that they are in the best shape of their lives, or that their training for the fight met all expectations. This is not the case of Gegard Mousasi, who revealed that he went through the worst period of training before his fight against Mark Muñoz, in Berlin, Germany.

According to the fighter, the training phase was not as fruitful as it could have been. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing. “It was the worst training period of my life. But every time I had perfect training, I did poorly in fights. The times I had bad training, I did very well, so maybe that's a good thing”, said Mousasi, in an interview with the website of the North American channel FOX Sports.

Mousasi does not expect any big surprises in the fight, and, precisely for this reason, he is prepared to remain calm in case the wrestler Muñoz manages to put him down. “I'm going to try to be more technical and take advantage of my striking. I know he will definitely try to take me down. I'm in the mindset that if he knocks me down, I'll get back up quickly. The fight isn't over just because he took me down. I’m going to fight all-around, and it’s a good way to start,” he said.

The fight between Mousasi and Muñoz will be the main attraction of UFC Berlin, which will take place next Saturday (31), moments before the TUF Brasil 3 Finale, which will be held on the same day in São Paulo (SP).
