Topuria imposes conditions and chooses opponent to return to the Octagon before fighting for the belt

Fighter had a gala performance over Josh Emmett and assured that he can wait for the belt if UFC does not accept imposed demands

Winner and with great dominance, Ilia Topuria fulfilled his promise and punished Josh Emmett in the main fight of UFC Jacksonville. Currently ranked ninth in the featherweight rankings (up to 65.7 kg.), the Georgian said he will be the next challenger for the belt, unless the UFC fulfills the imposed requirement and gives him the opportunity to star in a duel against the former division champion in Spain.

“Busy or unoccupied, I don’t know how he is (Max Holloway). I'm the next guy to fight for the belt. I can wait. One of the best things I have is patience. If they offer me to face Max Holloway in Spain we will do this. If not, I'll wait for the fight against the champion. That’s it”, said the fighter in a post-fight press conference.

Touted as a candidate to become the next featherweight king, Topuria reached his 14th career triumph and continues with an undefeated record. At 26 years old, the fighter beat fifth place in the category and puts himself in a great position to fight for the title.

Despite expressing a desire to face Alexander Volkanovsky, the Georgian needs to wait for the outcome of the fight between the New Zealander and Yair Rodriguez, who will face each other on July 8, at UFC 290, in a duel valid for the unification of the division's belts.
