In his welterweight debut, Wellington Turman loses on points and reaches a dramatic milestone at UFC Jacksonville

In his first appointment as a representative of the welterweight division (up to 77,1kg.), Wellington Turman had lackluster performance. Inserted on the preliminary card of the UFC Jacksonville, held this Saturday (24), the pupil of Glover Teixeira encountered difficulties in the challenge against the veteran Randy Brown. Unsuccessful in imposing his strategy, the fighter ended up being defeated by the judges' unanimous decision after three rounds.

As a result, Turman finds himself in trouble in the organization. Now, the fighter has five defeats in eight challenges played.

A company veteran, Brown returns to winning ways. Before measuring forces with Wellington, the Jamaican came from behind to Jack Della Maddalena.

New stumble

The confrontation began with Brown shaking Turman in the opening seconds with a straight shot. The Brazilian tried to find the best distance to strike, but Randy controlled his actions. Halfway through the stage, the fighters combined kicks and punches in the center of the octagon. Almost in the final minute, Wellington went into a grappling fight, but Brown reversed his position and started to press the Tupiniquim against the bars. The referee removed the fighters after the Brazilian accused an illegal low kick. In the center of the octagon, Randy abused low kicks and tried to intimidate Turman. Almost at the end of the stage, Brown landed a flying knee, followed by a takedown, but there was no more time.

In the second round, the initiative belonged to Wellington, who attacked his opponent with a kick. With a minute gone, Turman shortened the game and started trying for a takedown. Pressed against the bars, Brown protected himself and prevented his opponent from succeeding. Halfway through the stage, Randy reversed his position and it was the Tupiniquim's turn to be cornered against the bars. Due to the lack of combativeness, the athletes began to be booed by the public. Near the end, Randy got a takedown. Wellington got to his feet, but Brown quickly got to his back. However, there was no more time.

In the last round, Turman combined a low kick and jab, trying to get closer to his opponent. While the Jamaican saved his attacks, Wellington tried to get closer, but was frustrated by his rival's movement. Halfway through the round, the fighters once again measured strength against the bars. Without much action, the fighters alternated positions on the bars. In the final minute, they walked away. Turman threw a round punch, but the attack stopped in the Jamaican's guard. The fight ended with the athletes studying each other in the center of the Octagon.
