Challenged by Dana White to a superfight against Jon Jones in the UFC, the boxing star Tyson Fury was categorical in rejecting the proposal. In a question and answer ceremony at theBangtao Muay Thai & MMA Gym', the holder of two heavyweight world titles (WBC and The Ring) explained why he does not intend to face the Ultimate legend.

“This idea of Jon Jones and I fighting in the octagon is ridiculous. I am the current world heavyweight champion (in boxing). I'm the greatest since John L. Sullivan (for many, the first world champion of the 'noble art', in heavyweight, of the modern era). Why would I dream of getting into the octagon, wrestling and all the rest? It’s not my game”, assured Fury.

The plan to promote a confrontation between Tyson and Jones gained strength after the boxer was angered by Joe Rogan's comments about a possible clash between the martial arts stars. At the time, on his podcast, the UFC's main commentator stated that Jon would emerge victorious if both were locked in a room for a 'no rules' confrontation.

The analyst's speech bothered Fury, who made his anger public. After the episode, Dana White, in a press conference, formalized the invitation to the world boxing champion.
