winner in UFC Las Vegas 75, Jared Cannonier impressed with his pace and number of significant strikes connected during the confrontation against Marvin vettori. Despite having good standing technique, the athlete revealed that he is working to increasingly improve his level in grappling and declared that he is inspired by Khabib Nurmagomedov e Islam makhachev.
“You guys better be careful, I can fight too. I haven't even shown my submission game yet, it's just me taking you down, weighing you down, hitting you. I've been studying these Dagestanis and stuff, you know what I mean? As far as I'm concerned, that's the mountain I'm personally climbing. I want to be as good as those 'Khabibs', good as those 'Islams' inside; good as all these guys when it comes to grappling. I'm going to keep working on my grappling, I'm going to keep improving… First fight where I was active in the takedowns. Improvements, I just want to continue showing improvements”, declared Jared in a press conference after the fight.

Rival of Vettori, an Italian known for his grappling skills, Cannonier was successful in four of the six opportunities to take down his rival.
Former title challenger, the North American was willing to be a reserve fighter for the next fight in Israel adesanya and asked for a chance to avenge the defeat suffered by the Nigerian in July 2022.
