Five reasons to watch UFC 289 with Charles do Bronx and Amanda Nunes

The big moment has arrived. This Saturday (10), in Vancouver (CAN), the UFC 289, a spectacle that promises to shake up the month of June in MMA. With 11 fights scheduled, the show will have Charles of the Bronx e Amanda nunes as protagonists. While the São Paulo native returns to the octagon for a decisive challenge, the Bahian seeks success in her first belt defense in her new bantamweight reign (up to 61,2kg).

Former UFC lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) leader, Do Bronx will step into the octagon to measure strength with Beneil Dariush. Inserted in the top 5, the fighters measure strength with an eye on their status as challengers for the group title.

MMA legend, Nunes undertakes his first challenge since regaining the bantamweight belt in the rematch against Julianna Pena. At the weekend, Bahia will have Irene aldana as an opponent.

In addition to Charles and Amanda, Brazil will have one more representative. Mary Oliveira, a promise in the strawweight division (up to 52,1kg.) shares the octagon with Diana Belbita.

The challenge against Aldana represents Tupiniquim's first title defense since resuming the group's throne. A favorite in the bookmakers, Amanda will have the opportunity to further establish her name as the best fighter of all time.

During the week of UFC 289, Amanda even responded to the press about a possible retirement. At the weekend, the Bahian will measure strength with Irene aldana, number five in the category that has accumulated two consecutive victories. The Mexican's last stumble happened in 2020, when the fighter was dominated and beaten by Holly holm. The question is: who will be the next rival, if the Bahian triumphs? Defending the featherweight belt (up to 65,7 kg.) is a possibility, but it is a fact that none of the candidates showed a level of competition close to that presented by Amanda over the last few years.
