Recently, Jon Jones have been receiving some criticism from MMA fans regarding their stance inside and outside the octagon. Therefore, one of his potential challengers in the light heavyweight category, Daniel Cormier, stated that the champion should accept his role as “bad boy” and act more authentically.

Cormier uses as an example the boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr, who, despite having a controversial stance outside the ring, is one of the most popular athletes in the United States, including being considered the highest paid sportsman in the world.

“If I were Jones, with people seeming to not like him, I would be 100% Floyd Mayweather Jr. He wins all the time and people don't like him, but people always turn on the television to watch him”, he analyzed “ DC”, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Junkie”.

“People want to believe that Jones is not 100% real with us, that what they see has some acting to it. So give it to them. If they believe you're a complete asshole, then be an asshole. People will watch you with the hope that you will lose, because at the end of the day, you will still be winning. Floyd Mayweather receives US$40 million per fight, and, in the end, that is a victory”, continued the American.

Cormier has the desire to challenge Jones for the UFC light heavyweight belt. To do this, he will need to win Dan Henderson in the co-main event of UFC 173, which will take place on May 24, in Las Vegas, in the United States.
