Anthony Pettis took another important step towards his first UFC belt defense. According to his main coach, Duke Roufus, the lightweight champion is now authorized to return to his boxing and jiu-jitsu training, in addition to being able to do his physical strengthening and conditioning preparation. The information was released by the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

Pettis injured his knee in the fight in which he won the Ultimate title, in August last year, when he submitted Benson Henderson in the first round. The fighter hoped to recover from the injury without the need for surgery, but ended up aggravating the injury while training to fight with Josh thomson, in what would be his first title defense. He had to undergo surgery at the end of 2013.
