In February, after the end of exemptions for the use of TRT in MMA, the Brazilian Vitor belfort was forced to leave the middleweight title fight against Chris Weidman and give way to Lyoto Machida in combat. In Vitor's opinion, however, it was another compatriot who should have taken his place: Ronaldo Jacare.

“It doesn’t make sense (Lyoto Machida) to be fighting for the belt, but Jacaré. If there is a ranking, the ranking must be fulfilled. That's what the Jon Jones said, this ranking does not exist. These are fights that are married. We have to accept it, but like I said, it's a fact: whoever has the belt is my next opponent”, said Belfort, in an interview with the “Sensei SporTV” program.

Despite his opinion about Machida's status as a challenger, and having been challenged by “Dragon” when he dropped down a category, Vitor stated that he did not have any kind of resentment or resentment. “None, none (hurt with Lyoto). I think he’s an excellent athlete, a super professional and very talented guy,” he added.

Furthermore, Belfort revealed that he had not given up hope of fighting for the belt against Chris Weidman, especially now that the fight has been postponed until July 5th. “For sure (I see myself fighting for the belt later this year). When? In July (laughs)! Anything could happen. We have to follow the rules, Dana White said: 'Be prepared'. Dana, I'm ready!” he snapped.
