Velasquez and Werdum will be TUF Latin America coaches and will face each other in November

Before facing each other for the UFC heavyweight belt, Cain Velazquez e Fabricio Werdum have a commitment outside the octagon. The fighters will be the coaches of the inaugural season of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America. The announcement was made by UFC president, Dana White, this Tuesday (29), at an event held in Mexico City.

Current champion of the category, Velasquez is one of the great exponents of MMA in Mexico. Despite being born in the United States, the fighter is the son of a Mexican father. It will be his first time coaching a TUF season. Brazilian Werdum lived in Spain for several years and speaks Spanish fluently, and is even the UFC commentator on broadcasts in the language. He already commanded a team in reality show in the second season of TUF Brasil, alongside Rodrigo Minotauro.

The program will feature 16 Spanish-speaking fighters who are residents of the following countries: Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay , Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. Candidates, in the bantamweight and featherweight categories, must be between 21 and 34 years old and have a minimum of three professional MMA fights. Filming will begin on May 12th, in Las Vegas (United States), and the program will air from August.

The event that will mark the final of the program will be UFC 180, on the week of November 15th, in Mexico City. The occasion will also mark the fight between the program's coaches, who will compete for the heavyweight belt on the same day.
