The victory of Jon Jones about Glover Teixeira, at UFC 172, last Saturday (26), impressed a large part of the world's MMA fans. But not the Alexander Gustafson, the next challenger for the organization's light heavyweight belt. Even though Jones won every round of the fight against Teixeira according to all the judges of the fight, Gustafsson stated that he didn't see the champion perform with the same brilliance as he used to.

“He was dominating Glover from the beginning of the fight, there's no doubt about it. But I do not know. It seemed like he wasn't performing as usual. I got that impression. He basically did enough to win the fight. We used to see spectacular things from Jon Jones when he fights. He showed a lot of variety, but he didn't do it like he did in his previous fights”, analyzed the Swede, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

After the fight, Jones showed irritation when asked about the rematch with Gustafsson. The Swede sees this as a positive point for himself. “I think I got into your head now. I have learned a lot over these years. It's not just about the fight itself, but there's also a lot of mental struggle. This is something I only learned later. I understand that this is very important. I think I got into his head and now he only gets irritated by my name. But I think this is good. I’m not one to provoke, but if you ask me, I’ll say what I feel and what I think”, he commented.

Gustafsson and Jones fought in a fight that was voted the best in 2013. After five rounds of intense competition, the North American was named the winner in a unanimous decision by the judges.
