Second athlete with the longest time inside the octagon in UFC history, Frankie Edgar recently drew attention precisely when he involuntarily left one. Former lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg), the North American published, last Monday (24), a video on social media in which he appears falling out of the cage during a training session.

In the caption of the publication, Frankie Edgar narrates what happened and explains that he made a “rookie mistake” by forgetting to lock the octagon door before helping his training partner Mark Gray during a sparring session.

“More than 18 years in the game and I still make beginner mistakes. I forgot to lock the cage door when I was training Mark Gray and boom! I expected to feel the railing on my back, but instead I felt the steps on my back and the back of my head on the floor. Fortunately, there were rubber mats on the floor. I still got up and finished the session, we have fights to win!”, wrote the legend.

Lightweight defense record holder alongside Khabib Nurmagomedov and Benson Henderson, Frankie Edgar is considered one of the greatest names in the history of the division. The North American, who also performed as a featherweight (up to 65,7kg) and bantamweight (up to 61,2kg) in Ultimate, hung up his gloves in November last year with a professional record of 24 wins, 11 losses and one draw.
