Lightweight Cristiano Marcello announced the end of his career as an MMA fighter. At 36 years old and with 19 fights as a professional, the Brazilian decided to put an end to his career as an athlete with 13 wins and six losses. Now, the black belt will dedicate himself to CM System, a gym he owns in Curitiba. Cristiano's statement came through an official note.
“For 17 years, I have put into practice a gift that God gave me: serving martial arts. But everything in life has an end, and mine came today. I'm 'hanging up my gloves', officially leaving professional MMA. During this period, I had 19 fights, won 13 and was defeated on six occasions. I smiled, I cried, I learned, but what makes me most happy about announcing this farewell is that I will have even more time to dedicate myself to another gift I also share, that of teaching.
Now, my dedication will be to CM System and my students. I want to train new warriors who can go through the biggest events in the world, just like I did. In fact, I'm the only fighter in the world who fought in Meca, PRIDE, TUF (as a competitor) and UFC. I'm extremely competitive, I'm not going to abandon jiu-jitsu and grappling competitions. I want to fight at ADCC and you will see me there, you can be sure”, wrote the fighter.
