Retired from MMA since the end of 2022, José Aldo is ready for his second boxing commitment of the current season. At the weekend, Manauara will be opponents of Jeremy Stephens, a veteran already beaten by the 'People's Champion' in the UFC.
The main fight marks a meeting of generations. Former Ultimate champion, Antonhy Pettis will share the ring with Roy Jones Jr. After a discreet stint in the PFL in the last two seasons, 'showtime' tests himself in the 'noble art' against the 54-year-old multiple world champion.
In addition to Belfort, Jacaré and Aldo, Brazil still has one more representative. Markus Maluko, who also had a stint in the UFC, will face veteran Joe Riggs on the preliminary card.
Vitor Belfort x Ronaldo Jacaré II
Although the first meeting between the fighters was in MMA, the 'Boxing of Legends' sets up a rematch between Vitor belfort e Ronaldo Jacare. Former UFC standouts, the veterans shared the Octagon in 2016, when they were looking to get closer to a middleweight title fight (up to 83,9kg).
When they faced each other, Jacaré came out on top. Legend of jiu-jitsu, the Espírito Santo made use of his refined technique to attract the 'Phenomenon' to the ground. In his territory, Ronaldo settled the bill by winning by knockout, via ground and pound.
Around seven years later, the fighters met again. More experienced and away from MMA for more than two seasons, the veterans seek to put on a show in the ring in a boxing presentation.
José Aldo x Jeremy Stephens II
MMA legend, José Aldo remains firm in realizing his dream of testing himself in the 'noble art'. After winning in his debut in the sport, in February, when he beat Emanuel Zambrano, the man from Manaus is ready to return to the ring.
Former UFC featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg), the Brazilian, like Belfort and Jacaré, will have a familiar opponent at the weekend. Highlight of 'Boxing of Legends', the 'King of Rio' once again faces Jeremy Stephens, former victim from the Ultimate days.
In 2018, Aldo was experiencing a dramatic situation in the organization chaired by Dana White. Coming off two defeats to Max Holloway in title fights, the Brazilian was under pressure for a positive result and had Stephens as his opponent.
Incisive, José achieved victory with a tough knockout in the first round. What marked the commitment, however, was the emotional celebration of Manauara, who did not hide his relief at returning to the path of positive results.
Almost five years later, the scenario for the clash is different. While Aldo tries to maintain 100% performance in the 'noble art', Jeremy is looking for a new direction in his career, as, in the last nine performances, he has accumulated seven stumbles.
