EA Sports UFC, the official Ultimate game for video games, will feature an illustrious character: Bruce Lee. The announcement was made this Monday (7), shortly after the official cover of the game to be released.
Even though he died prematurely in 1973, at the age of 32, Bruce Lee is one of the most remembered names when it comes to martial arts. Precisely for this reason the producers decided to put him in the game. “Why put Bruce Lee in a UFC game? It’s Bruce Lee,” explained Brian Hayes, creative director at Electronic Arts, the game’s developer. “We have the fastest growing sports organization in the world and the most iconic martial artist in history. I can’t think of a universe where combining the two doesn’t make sense.”
Bruce Lee's character will be playable in four different weight categories: flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight and lightweight. To unlock the fighter, there are two possibilities: complete Career Mode at level Pro or above, or by pre-ordering the game. It is not the first time that the UFC has joined forces with Bruce Lee, having already launched a line of dolls of the actor.
The launch of EA Sports UFC is scheduled for June 17th and will be available for Xbox One and Playstation 4.
