It's been a while since Rousimar Toquinho won the World Series of Fighting (WSOF) welterweight title. Even so, the fighter has already taken a break from the celebrations and started focusing on his first title defense, in July.

After submitting Steve Carl just a few seconds into the fight and winning the belt, the Brazilian already has a date to return to fighting. It will be on July 5th, when he will face the experienced Jon Fitch. The North American has already harshly criticized Toquinho, saying that he would never face him because he considers that the Brazilian insists on holding back on submissions even after his opponent has hit. Toquinho, however, ignored the controversy.

“I know I'll be ready there on the day. I can't speak for anyone. He can say what he wants, say what he thinks, feels. I know I'm here and I'm working to keep the belt with me for a long time. If he wants to take it from me, which I guarantee won't be easy, he'll have to fight. The belt won't be leaving anytime soon. I'm well and focused, ready to continue as champion”, assured Toquinho, through his press office.

Fitch, 36 years old, has had just two fights since leaving the UFC, with one loss and one win. In June last year, he lost to Josh Burkman by submission, and in October, he beat Brazilian Marcelo Alfaya.
