Marcos Babuíno is the featherweight champion of Talent MMA. In the seventh edition of the event, held last Saturday night (29), in Osasco, São Paulo, he beat João Paulo Rodrigues by technical knockout, in the third round, sending the audience at Ginásio Geodéstico into a frenzy. It is the second title for the Babuíno Gold Team in Talent, as Anderson Berinja is the current bantamweight champion (up to 61 kg).

To reach the title, the new champion didn't have an easy life, and had to overcome the only man who beat him Renan Barao, current UFC bantamweight champion. After two intense rounds, with frank exchanges on both sides, Babuíno connected with a hard right blow over his opponent's guard, taking him to the canvas. A few more ground and pound strikes and the victory was confirmed.

“It was a very tough fight, a war, exactly the way I wanted it. When I was invited to fight for the belt, I asked that the opponent be an experienced guy who liked to come out on top, just like me, and João Paulo sold the defeat very dearly. I'm in the best shape of my career, and whoever wants to take this title just makes weight and challenges me”, he said.

In the second most important fight of the night, three-time jiu-jitsu world champion Celsinho Venicius claimed yet another MMA victim. And with Robson Gracie in the front row of the gym, the Ryan Gracie athlete couldn't have achieved victory in a better way. After taking the duel to the ground in the first minute of the fight, the black belt worked on the gentle art and submitted André Urso with a north/south choke.

The patriarch of the Gracie family climbed into the cage and presented the award to Celsinho. “If we are here fighting, if Brazil is a world reference in jiu-jitsu, we owe everything to the Gracie. I feel honored to represent the family name and to receive the trophy from his hands”, said the winner.
